ぼうりゅう【傍流】

1 〔本流から分かれた流れ〕 an effluent (stream); a branch.

2 〔主流から離れた流派や系統〕 a branch; an offshoot; something outside the mainstream.

●歴史の傍流 the bypaths [byways] of history.
